Shrink PDFs without leaving your browser.
Ghostscript, compiled to WebAssembly, runs on your device. Nothing is uploaded. No limits, no sign-up.
How it works
Drop a PDF
Or a link to one. Several at once is fine.
Compressed on your device
Images are resampled, text and vectors stay untouched.
Download
One file, or all of them as a zip.

What it does
Stays on your device
Ghostscript, compiled to WebAssembly, runs in your browser. PDFs you drop in are never uploaded, so a contract or a passport scan stays with you.
Images shrink, text does not
Scans and photos are resampled to a resolution that still reads well. Text, vector drawings and form fields are written out unchanged.
A batch at a time
Drop ten files, watch each one shrink, and take them one by one or all together as a zip. Switch the quality and the whole list is redone.

When a smaller PDF is the only way through
Documents for a bank
Banking portals cap each upload. Scanned IDs, statements and contracts rarely fit until they are compressed.
Email attachments
Most mail servers stop at around 25 MB per message. A smaller PDF goes through instead of bouncing back.
Visa and government forms
Application portals set strict limits per file and reject anything above them, often without saying why.
Scans from a phone
Every scanned page is a full-size photo. Ten pages of a contract turn into tens of megabytes.
Proof of address
A utility bill saved from a provider’s site or photographed on a phone is often too heavy for the service that asks for it.
Job and tender applications
A CV with a portfolio, or a bid with its annexes, has to get under the form’s limit and still look right.

Keep it open while you browse. Drop a PDF from a page, an email attachment or your desktop; the list of files stays for 24 hours and everything is compressed on your device.
Questions
- Are my files uploaded anywhere?
- Not the files you drop in or choose: they are compressed in your browser. Only a PDF you add by link is fetched through our server, and ShrinkPDF asks before it does that.
- Why does the first file take longer?
- The compression engine, about 10 MB, is downloaded when you open ShrinkPDF. Once it is there, each file starts straight away.
- What if a file does not get smaller?
- Some PDFs are already compact. If the result is not smaller than the original, ShrinkPDF discards it and marks the file as already small.
- Can I change the quality afterwards?
- Yes. Pick another level and every file in the list is compressed again from its original.
- Does a signed PDF stay signed?
- No. Compression writes a new file, and a digital signature only vouches for the exact bytes it was made over. Keep the signed original.
- Is there a file size limit?
- No fixed limit. The file is processed in your browser, so very large PDFs are bounded by the memory your device has to spare.
